Information used
Book Buddy for Goodreads reads author names on Goodreads New Releases and requests your Goodreads reading shelf to show your past reads and ratings. It uses your Goodreads user ID and, when available, display name. If you choose CSV import, it reads the selected file locally and stores the read books’ titles, author names, ratings, dates read, shelf status, and Goodreads book links. It also remembers your rating-rule preference.
Storage and retention
Account identifiers, reading-history caches, imports and preferences are stored in this Chrome profile using extension local storage, not Chrome Sync. Live results are reused for up to seven days; empty results for one hour. Expired cache entries may remain locally until replaced or cleared. Imported libraries and preferences remain until removed or the extension is uninstalled. Caches and new imports are associated with the Goodreads account used when they are saved. Older imports without an account association are not used and can be removed with the import-removal control.
Network requests and sharing
Live lookup sends your user ID and the author search query to Goodreads over HTTPS using your existing Goodreads browser session. Book cover images may load from Goodreads’ image hosts. These services receive normal request information such as your IP address and apply their own privacy policies. Book Buddy for Goodreads does not send your CSV file or reading library to a developer-operated server. It has no analytics, advertising, sale of data, or developer access to your locally stored library. It does not request your password or use the Chrome cookies API.
Your controls
Clear Cache in the popup removes temporary author caches. Remove imported libraries removes all CSV imports stored by Book Buddy for Goodreads in this Chrome profile. Reload open Goodreads pages after removal to clear their displayed history. Uninstalling Book Buddy for Goodreads removes its extension local storage, including account identifiers and preferences. Your original CSV file and Goodreads shelves are unaffected.
Purpose and limited use
Book Buddy for Goodreads uses this information only to provide its author reading-history and filtering features. Its use of user data adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
